Manufacturing.
Growing manufacturing in Queensland.
The Steven Miles Government is doing what matters for our state’s manufacturing industry and wants to see even more products stamped ‘Made in Queensland.’
Labor has created and supported almost 8,000 jobs across Queensland through
$240 million in grants and support programs like Made in Queensland and the Manufacturing Hubs Grant Program.
Our investments mean Queensland manufacturers are bringing work previously done overseas back to Queensland - meaning more jobs for Queenslanders, especially in our regions.
Our Record.
The Miles Labor Government is investing $9.5 billion to bring train manufacturing back to Maryborough – trains will be manufactured by Queenslanders, for Queenslanders.
We have now fixed all the non-compliant trains the Newman LNP Government ordered from overseas in Maryborough, ensuring all Queenslanders can use our train network.
Labor has established and permanently funded six manufacturing hubs in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Gladstone and the Gold Coast.
We are also refurbishing the historic Rockhampton Railyards so they can be used by the community and industry, as part of the supply chain to build trains in Maryborough.
Labor has also delivered the state’s first Women in Manufacturing Strategy to get more women into manufacturing and established Manufacturing Skills Queensland to grow our state’s manufacturing workforce.
We want to continuing growing manufacturing in this state, creating even more good jobs for Queenslanders.
If elected, a Miles Labor Government will continue to grow manufacturing opportunities particularly in train manufacturing and the supply chain, and ensure our local manufacturers can harness the manufacturing opportunities that will be delivered by the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan.
This is all at risk under the LNP.
Manufacturing isn’t mentioned once in the LNP’s ‘Right Priorities’ document because it isn’t a priority for them.
Under the LNP, 10,000 manufacturing jobs were lost.
The LNP sent train manufacturing overseas and grants programs were slashed.
The LNP called our Queensland Train Manufacturing Program a ‘road to nowhere’ so we know an LNP government would export Queensland jobs again if given a chance.
Queensland manufacturers cannot trust the LNP.
Queensland workers cannot trust the LNP.
We can’t risk a future made in Queensland with David Crisfaulli and the LNP.
