Young Queenslanders.

Empowering young Queenslanders for a bright future.

Steven Miles and Labor are doing what matters to support young Queenslanders.

Our 50 cent fares are delivering real savings for young people commuting for work and study.

We’re also providing 20% off car rego fees for 12 months to ease transport expenses and we reduced the cost of learner licenses to $75, saving young Queenslanders and their families over $110.

Our new and expanded Free Tools for First Years program is also offering $1000 cash back on tools for apprentices – removing cost barriers for Queenslanders looking to pick up a trade in construction, plumbing, engineering or electrical.

That’s while we continue to deliver our Free TAFE and Free Apprenticeships for Under 25s – upskilling Queenslanders and providing pathways to good, high-paying jobs.

We know how important housing is to young Queenslanders.

It’s why one of the first things our Premier did was launch Homes for Queenslanders, because we know the best thing we can do for housing affordability is deliver more supply.

Our plan also means providing cost-of-living support to young renters, through our $160 million rent relief package, so that you can get support with interest-free bond loans, as well as rental grants and subsidies, to help them stay in their home.

We’re helping break down the barriers to homeownership by slashing stamp duty for homes up to $700,000 and doubling the first home owners grant.

These reforms add to the progressive policies that support young people’s health and wellbeing, and the rights of women.

We recognise that every Queensland woman and girl deserves access to quality healthcare and reliable contraception, no matter where they live.

That’s why we de-criminalised abortion and why we’ve made it possible for women and girls to access hormonal contraception and UTI advice / treatment at their local pharmacy.

The Miles Labor Government has also delivered two pill testing services in Bowen Hills and Burleigh, as well as the first event-based drug checking service.

A re-elected Miles Government would roll out a confidential and free pill-testing service at this year’s Schoolies at Surfers Paradise, to help young people celebrate safely.

We’re delivering $1.6 million in funding to support live music in Queensland.

We’ve also appointed John Collins as Queensland’s first Night-Life Economy Commissioner to work closely with local businesses, live music venues, and entertainment precincts to create a vibrant and safe nightlife environment.

Our Government also recognises the need to take action to protect our planet for future generations. We’ve legislated a new emissions target of 75% reduction by 2035 and net zero by 2050 and we have a credible pathway to get there with our Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan.

This is all at risk under the LNP.

The LNP would undo the nation-leading progressive reform that Queenslanders have worked so hard to deliver.

We know that they will:

  • Roll back our reforms allowing women to access the contraceptive pill from the pharmacy

  • Ban drug testing, making Queenslanders far less safe

  • Re-criminalise abortion

  • They don’t support our renewable energy target, want to build risky and expensive nuclear power and keep burning coal for longer.

  • The last time they were in government, the LNP banned same sex couples from civil unions and made it illegal for them to have children through surrogacy.

  • The LNP don’t support progressive reform and never will.

  • That’s why Queenslanders can’t risk them at the next election.
